Since 2013, Yön Avize has designed and manufactured mosque chandeliers in its own workshop in Tekkeköy, Samsun, Türkiye. For mosque associations and foundations in Europe, we design chandeliers from architectural drawings and photos, manufacture them in Türkiye, then pack and ship them. Lier Mosque in Belgium is one of our completed European projects.
Belgium – Lier Mosque
Yön Avize designed and manufactured the chandeliers for Lier Mosque in the Belgian city of Lier. The lighting scheme included:
- Two LED-lit ring chandeliers: 5 metres and 2.2 metres in diameter
- 3 floor lamps
- 13 pendant chandeliers
Each piece was designed for the mosque's interior. The large rings provide the main light in the prayer hall, while the pendants and floor lamps complete the surrounding areas.

Choosing a chandelier for a mosque in Europe
Many mosques in Europe are not purpose-built domed buildings but converted warehouses, factories or offices. Chandelier choice therefore works differently from a classic domed mosque:
- Flat or low ceilings: without a dome, large-diameter LED rings and chandeliers hung close to the ceiling, as at Lier Mosque, are usually the better solution. Ring diameter follows the width of the prayer hall and the ceiling height.
- New domed mosques: chandelier diameter is typically one third to one half of the dome diameter. Large domes take 2+1, 3+1 or 4+1 tiered chandeliers; a "300 3+1", for example, has rings of 3 m, 2 m and 1 m plus a 30 cm pendant lamp and carries 61 lamps.
- Supporting lighting: pendants, wall sconces and floor lamps for the women's gallery, entrance and ablution areas can follow the same design language.
- Energy and maintenance: LED lighting lowers electricity costs and the need for lamp replacement, which matters for associations running a mosque on donations.
- Local regulations: electrical installation and fixture compliance should be reviewed against the rules of your country. The documents required for Europe and other countries (including CE conformity documents) are provided on a project basis; for some of our products these documents have already been obtained.
Materials
We work in any material on request. The most common are brass, stainless steel, crystal, LED and laser-cut Quranic verse plates drawn to the size of your mosque. You can start from our Ottoman Verse, Vizyon, Medine or modern LED series, or commission an entirely new design.
How a project runs
- Measurements and photos: send prayer hall dimensions, ceiling height, any drawings and photos by WhatsApp or email.
- 3D design approval: the chandelier is shown in 3D inside your space; production starts after the association's approval.
- Manufacturing in Samsun: in our own workshop; standard models can take 15–20 days, large projects are scheduled model by model.
- Packing and shipping: large chandeliers are dismantled and shipped as numbered parts. We offer three delivery options: ex-works (collection from our workshop), port-to-port and door-to-door.
- Installation: Our own installation team travels abroad and installs the chandelier on site.
Beyond Europe, in the nearby region, we also made custom chandeliers for the Wyndham Batumi hotel in Batumi, Georgia.
Frequently asked questions
Our mosque is a converted building with no dome. Can it still have a large chandelier?
Yes. Large LED ring chandeliers, like those at Lier Mosque, give strong main light in flat-ceilinged prayer halls.
Can our board see the chandelier before deciding?
Yes. Before production we prepare a 3D view of the chandelier in your mosque, so the board can decide from the design.
Can you plan the lighting for the whole mosque, not only the main chandelier?
Yes. At Lier Mosque, 13 pendant chandeliers and 3 floor lamps were designed alongside the two ring chandeliers.
How is the chandelier shipped?
Large chandeliers are dismantled, packed as numbered parts and assembled on site.
