Yön Avize has been designing and manufacturing mosque chandeliers in its own workshop in Tekkeköy, Samsun, Türkiye, since 2013. For mosque projects in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, we design each chandelier from your architectural drawings, measurements and photos, submit a 3D design for your approval, then manufacture, pack and ship it. This page is written for mosque committees, endowments (awqaf), contractors and project managers planning lighting for a mosque in the Gulf.
Our completed mosque projects in the Gulf
Al Hassan Mosque – Busaiteen, Muharraq (Bahrain)
Yön Avize designed and manufactured the chandeliers for Al Hassan Mosque, built by Mohammed bin Yousef Al-Hassan, owner of Al Hassan Holding, in his hometown of Busaiteen. The project included an 8-metre-diameter main chandelier, more than 20 large chandeliers and dozens of wall sconces, all designed and installed by our team. Because the main chandelier, secondary chandeliers and sconces share one design language, the prayer hall reads as a single, coherent lighting scheme.

El Tawheed Mosque – Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)
The chandeliers we designed for El Tawheed Mosque in Riyadh were made in brass and decorated with Saudi pattern motifs. The aim was not to transplant an Ottoman chandelier into a Saudi mosque, but to adapt the region's own ornamental vocabulary to the fixture. We take the same approach across the Gulf: motifs, calligraphy and proportions are drawn from the architecture of the mosque itself.

Sizing a chandelier to the dome
Gulf mosques often combine wide prayer halls with tall domes, so diameter and tier count need to be right from the start.
- Diameter: Typically between one third and one half of the dome diameter. Dome height, the level of the window drum and the distance to the congregation can shift that ratio.
- Tiers: Medium domes usually take a 2+1 chandelier (two rings plus a small pendant lamp below); large domes take 3+1 or 4+1. A "300 3+1", for example, has rings of 3 m, 2 m and 1 m plus a 30 cm pendant lamp.
- Lamp count: We plan 10 lamps per metre of ring diameter, plus one for the pendant lamp. A 300 3+1 chandelier carries 61 lamps in total.
- Suspension: For large chandeliers, the hanging point in the dome and its load capacity should be checked with the project's structural engineer. We finalise the suspension detail during the 3D design stage.
- Secondary chandeliers and sconces: Planning them from the same series as the main chandelier, as at Al Hassan Mosque, gives the prayer hall balanced light.
To size a chandelier accurately we need the dome diameter, dome height (floor to crown), prayer hall dimensions and, if possible, a section drawing.
Materials and design options
We can work in any material on request. The most common choices for Gulf projects are:
- Brass: A warm, classic finish that suits detailed motif work, as at El Tawheed Mosque.
- Stainless steel: For clean, modern bodies; a durable option in hot, humid climates.
- Crystal: Hung between tiers as drops or strands to scatter light.
- LED lighting: LED strips behind verse and motif plates reduce energy use and maintenance.
- Laser-cut Quranic verse plates: Verses or motifs are drawn to suit the dome size, laser-cut, and backlit with acrylic and LED.
You can start from our Ottoman Verse, Vizyon, Medine or modern LED series, or commission an entirely new design.
How an international project works
- Send measurements and photos: Share dome and prayer hall dimensions, architectural drawings and interior photos by WhatsApp or email.
- 3D design approval: We prepare a 3D design showing the chandelier inside your space. Diameter, tiers, materials and motifs are fixed with your approval; production starts only after that.
- Manufacturing in Samsun: The chandelier is made in our Tekkeköy workshop. Standard models can take 15–20 days; large custom projects are scheduled model by model.
- Packing and shipping: Large chandeliers are dismantled, packed as numbered parts and shipped.
- Installation: Our own installation team travels abroad and installs the chandelier on site.
We offer three delivery options: ex-works (collection from our workshop), port-to-port and door-to-door.

Frequently asked questions
Can you design the chandelier without visiting the mosque?
Yes. We work from architectural drawings, measurements and photos to prepare the 3D design. For large projects a site visit can also be arranged when needed.
Can you apply motifs specific to our region?
Yes. At El Tawheed Mosque we applied Saudi pattern motifs to brass chandeliers. Motifs and calligraphy are drawn specifically for each mosque.
Does a large chandelier arrive in one piece?
No. Large chandeliers are shipped dismantled in numbered parts and assembled on site. Smaller chandeliers can be shipped ready to hang.
Do you also make secondary chandeliers and wall sconces?
Yes. At Al Hassan Mosque, more than 20 large chandeliers and dozens of sconces were made in the same design language as the main chandelier.
